why I study Japanese

I don't quite know why I started Japanese this late actually since it would definitely mean a lot to my academic pursuit. My researches focus on cultural and social history of modern China. I just finished a project on the radio broadcasting of Peking (1927-1949). I found out that a large portion of the archive was written in Japanese and I was not able to digest it yet.
P.S. It's also a personal interest. The Japanese language is interesting, isn't it.

  1. That is so interesting that your radio research brought you to studying Japanese! Are you going to go and revisit your research once you learn better how to read in Japanese, or were you able to get a lot of it translated at the time?

  2. Your research interest is very intriguing! I wish I can read your project some day. I also noticed that Japanese institutions are so well established in terms of archiving.
(btw I really like the design of your blog :D)

  3. It is interesting that most archives are in Japanese, even after 1945. I wonder what are being broadcasted on radio during those times, probably gonna ask you more あした.
